Street Find - Transforming a Discarded Chair

Posted on September 2, 2017 at 9:25 AM

My Sunday morning street find this morning was this side chair. On my way back, someone had picked it up and I was glad of that. We certainly don't need more furniture in the landfill. This chair could have easily been donated to our neighbourhood charity shop at St. John's Church just around the corner!!

The possibilities for transforming this chair are amazing.

All it takes to transform the chair is new modern fabric. Above is an example of fabrics used on chairs sold by Anthropologie.

There's a lot of info on the web for reholstering chairs but for me, they are way to complicated. I've reupholstered simlar chairs in the past and, because my attention span is nil, I found an easy peasy way to redo my chairs.

Not to bore you with my own instructions I found that Liz over at Love Grows Wild has nice detailed instructions for recovering an office chair. But since it was the only chair I found that had a separate back and seat, it would be easy to follow what she does.

To see how she does it, click here.

You could end up with something like this.

I love the simplicity of this fabric.
